Arinya was created inside the Detroit omnium during or prior to the Omnic Crisis, where she worked as a nuclear reactor specialist. She was fighting on a battlefield near Houston when the Awakening occurred, giving her free will.
After omnics were given legal personhood, Arinya enrolled in Carnegie Mellon University. She initially studied computer science before she pivoted to history and library science, arguing that it was important for omnics to take an active role in preserving their own history.
After Overwatch was disbanded, she was among the researchers chosen to form the Zurich Archive.[1]
