Battle for Olympus is a Limited-time event for Overwatch 2, that ran from January 5 to January 19, 2023. The event introduced Greek god-themed cosmetics, including Legendary skins purchasable in the shop for Reinhardt, Roadhog, LĂșcio and Widowmaker. The season 2 battle pass featured other Greek god-themed cosmetics, such as skins for Junker Queen, Pharah and Ramattra. The event also introduced a limited-time deathmatch game mode of the same name, Battle For Olympus, with related event challenges.[1][2]

The limited-time game mode returned in Season 4, alongside the new Team Deathmatch version upon popular request. However, the challenges and other cosmetics did not return during this time, only the game mode. This time, the event ran from May 23 to May 29, 2023.

The event returned again during the Overwatch Anniversary 2023 from September 19 to September 26, 2023.

Main article: Battle for Olympus Deathmatch

Battle for Olympus is a Deathmatch game mode that features seven heroes that get special powers when they activate their divine ultimates that stack new effects on top of their abilities. The mode was initially only available as an 8 player FFA Deathmatch, but during its comeback in Season 4, it became also available as a 4v4 Team Deathmatch.

At the end of the first event, the hero with the highest number of kills overall from the event will have had their statue placed on the Ilios Ruins arena map to commemorate their victory. The winner of the first Battle for Olympus was Zeus Junker Queen.

Development[ | ]

Feedback for the event was generally positive, though the developers did not expect that players would pursue all of the hero titles during the event. They also felt that some challenges were too difficult to complete in aggregate. The developers plan to make a team deathmatch version and enable the mode in custom games the next time it runs. Environmental kills will be included in future leaderboard tabulations.[3]
