In Tank mode, Bastion extends wheeled treads and a powerful long-range cannon. The cannon’s explosive shells demolish targets in a wide blast radius, but Bastion can only remain in this mode for a limited time.

Default Key: (PC Q, PS Tri, XB Y)

Bastion can transform into a Tank while in either of its configurations. Bastion's defense in Tank configuration is significantly tougher, under the influence of Ironclad passive ability, which gives it 20% reduction of incoming damage.

Shells fired in Tank configuration will travel in a straight line, dealing 205 damage to enemies on contact or within range the resulting explosion. Shells deal 35 self-damage if they explode near Bastion, but it will only receive 28 damage due to Ironclad's damage resistance. The shell's explosion also pushes Bastion and enemies away if it explodes within their range. The strong self-knockback from the shells is can be used to perform a very high "rocket jump", catching many enemies off-guard.

After 8 seconds, Bastion will return to Configuration: Recon, regardless of which configuration it was in before activating the ultimate ability.

A player-controlled and enemy Bastion will emit a distinct fanfare, while an allied Bastion will only play the transformation noises, with no other audio cue to alert allies.

  • The assault cannon launches heavy ordnance that requires high power. It can only be deployed for brief periods.[1]
  • Bastion has no critical hit points anywhere on it during the ultimate, but is still able to be stunned, pushed, pinned, and killed.
  • Unlike Sentry mode's turret configuration, into which Bastion fully transforms without clipping or other tricks, Tank mode's tracks and barrel appear out of nowhere during the transformation. This is a side-effect of Tank being a replacement for Bastion's original early-beta ultimate, Remote Mine. Bastion's original character model was only meant to transform into the turret, so giving the character a second transformation necessitated using some "cheats" to accommodate the new form.
