Gil hailed from Worchester, Massachusetts, but later attended the University of Chicago, working towards a master's degree in archival history and document restoration. They have extensive volunteer work with nonprofit organizations, collecting, preserving, and archiving less traditional records associated with Overwatch and the Omnic Crisis. After Overwatch's disbandment, Gil was among those who contributed to the Zurich Archive.[1]
