Hero Mastery is a recurring limited-time event in Overwatch 2. It initially launched in Season 6: Invasion, where it celebrated the addition of Hero Mastery, a new permanent game mode. It then returned in future seasons whenever new Hero Mastery Courses were added. During the event, players could unlock cosmetics by completing event challenges.
Hero Mastery: Season 6[]
Starting September 7th 2023, Hero Mastery became a new playable permanent game mode in Overwatch 2. Alongside it's release, was the first Hero Mastery limited-time event, which introduced the first hero mastery courses for Reinhardt, Tracer and Mercy. Following them, Sojourn's course became playable on September 12th 2023, then Winston's course on September 19th 2023.
The event also introduced limited-time challenges, which rewarded players with battle pass xp and various cosmetics, including a Souvenir, Spray and Weapon Charm. This event ran from September 7 to September 26, 2023.

Hero Mastery: Season 8[]
During Season 8, the Hero Mastery event returned as Hero Mastery: Season 8. Starting January 2 2024, the event introduced new Hero Mastery courses for 5 more heroes. These 5 new courses were introduced in weekly instalments: the first was Lúcio's on January 2nd, than Mei on January 9th, D.Va on Janurary 16th, Echo on Janurary 23rd, and lastly Genji on Janurary 30th.
This event featured limited-time challenges that rewarded players with a Souvenir, Spray and Weapon Charm, just as it did during Season 6. However, the cosmetics and challenges featured this season were different from those in season 6. This event ran from January 2nd to February 6th, 2024.

Hero Mastery: Season 11[]
During Season 11 launch, 2 new Hero courses were introduced to the Hero Mastery game mode, which also saw the limited-time Hero Mastery: Season 11 event. Unlike previous seasons, both hero courses were introduced at the same time on season 11 launch, June 20th 2024.
As with other times this event returned, it featured limited-time challenges that rewarded players with a Souvenir, Spray and Weapon Charm, as well as battle pass xp. This event ran from June 20th to July 9th, 2024.

Hero Mastery: Season 13[]
The limited-time Hero Mastery: Season 13 event launched during the first half of Season 13: Spellbinder. It introduced 2 new Hero courses to the Hero Mastery game mode: Brigitte and Cassidy.
It featured limited-time challenges, rewarding players with 2 Sprays, 1 Weapon Charm and battle pass xp. This event ran from October 31st to November 12th, 2024.
