Kyoto Temple was a location pitched as a control map during development of Overwatch.[1]

The temple was an early concept for Hanamura.[2] Despite the change in name, both the Kyoto Temple and Hanamura are set in Japan and feature a similar environment.
Both featured original artworks are "early ideation[s]" of Hanamura, and were made by Peter Lee.[2]
