Leonal Namuaca was a scientist who operated in the period before the Omnic Crisis.
Story[ | ]
Namuaca lived in Mozambique. Due to climate change, the Namuaca family forced to flee from a rural area to a refugee settlement outside Nampula. While there, he learnt how vital clean water was to those fleeing conflict or climate change, and as such, he dedicated his life to securing drinkable water for every family. Namuaca's research into covalent organic frameworks helped him engineer new nanofiltration sheets that could force higher quantities of water through a series of mineral filters. The plans for his purifiers were released through market platforms rather than commercial channels, allowing simultanious global deployment. His invention not only slowed the proliferation of waterborne illnesses, but also increased water efficiency of homes and industries, easing pressures on water-scarce regions.
Namuaca's nanofiltration sheets were used as inspiration by Michael Lomakema in his water extractor designs. Both of their work would be influential in various fields, including hydroponics. However, some governments still restricted his filtration technology.[1]
