Lunar New Year

The Lunar New Year is a seasonal event in Overwatch.

The event is based on the real life Lunar New Year festival celebrated in several Asian countries, especially China.

The first Lunar New Year event was called Year of the Rooster and began on January 24, 2017 and ended on February 14, 2017.[1]

The second is Year of the Dog and began in February 2018.[2]

The third is Year of the Pig and started Jan 24th, 2019.[3]

The fourth is Year of the Rat and started January 16th, 2020 and ended on February 5th, 2020.

During the event, Lijiang Tower is redecorated with a Lunar New Year theme.

Cosmetics[edit | edit source]

All loot boxes bought or earned during the event are Lunar Loot Boxes, which look like a red and gold crate filled with fireworks. Each Lunar Loot Box contains at least one Lunar New Year cosmetic. Lunar New Year cosmetics can also be unlocked with credits through the Hero Gallery while the event is running.

The event brawl takes place on Lijiang Tower. Each team's objective is to capture the opposing team's flag.
