Lefort was the owner of a bar in Port-de-Paix. A cheerful man, he was generous as well, and gave Roseline Mondésir and Jean-Baptiste Augustin free papaya juice on hot summer days when they were children.
One night, Lefort was confronted by two men; Mauga and Trung Le Nguyen, who intentional or otherwise, had cleared out his bar. Terrified, Lefort could only nod mutely when Mauga complimented him on his juice. When Baptiste arrived, the 'meeting' began and Lefort disappeared round back.[1]
