“ | G'day, Meri. What are you smiling about? If you're smart enough to run the Tinkers, why are you working for this drongo? Ha. Like you'd be any better. At least I wouldn't shoot my friends in the back. |

~ Odessa Stone and Meri during the fight |
Meri took part in a Reckoning alongside King Mason Howl, Geiger, and Wastelander challenger, Odessa Stone. Geiger and Meri were apparently instructed by Howl to focus their attention on Stone, since they spent most of the match trying to kill her and nothing else. During the fight, Meri fired her mech's grapple hook at Stone, but she deflected it with her axe, causing it to embed in the edge of the arena. Meri eventually got her mech free, but not before Stone had incapacitated Geiger, and thrown her knife at Howl (who had so far kept out of the battle).
As they fought, Stone asked Meri why she was serving Howl, given that she was smart enough to run the Tinkerers. Meri scathingly claimed that Stone wouldn't be any better, and pinned her down. Stone pointed out that she, at least, wouldn't shoot her friends in the back, which was what Howl was about to do. Having activated his mech, he fired its cannon, hitting Meri instead of Stone. With the mech disabled, Stone raised her shotgun at Meri's forehead, but at the last second, winked, and shot Howl's mech instead.
As the fight progressed, Howl activated the Scrapyard's magnet. Locking his mech into the ground, he wasn't affected, while Stone and Geiger were drawn against the magnet. So too was Meri's mech, but using its grapple, she locked herself to the arena's perimeter. With Stone at Howl's mercy, Meri, having noted Stone's mercy to both herself and Geiger, un-grappled her mech from the perimeter, using it to hit Howl's as it was drawn in by the magnet. The impact caused Howl to mess up his shot, destroying the magnet. Enraged, Howl yelled at Meri that he'd kill her, but this didn't come to pass, as Stone defeated Howl and took his crown, becoming the new queen.
Later, following Stone's orders, Meri and Geiger banished Howl into the Wasteland.[1]
Trivia[ | ]
- Meri's mech design bears resemblance to the goblin tinkerer from Warcraft (color scheme, Tinker reference), and the terran SCV from StarCraft (overall design, including its drill and claw extensions).
- Her name could suggest Finnish roots, as Meri is a common Finnish name which means "the ocean."
