The Overwatch Anniversary, also known as Year One, is an annual event that celebrates the release of Overwatch every year. Originally taking place in May - June, in 2023 the anniversary event was moved to September - October to match the release of Overwatch 2.

Maps

Year One event also released three new arena maps : Black Forest, Castillo, and Necropolis, which are based on Eichenwalde, Dorado and Temple of Anubis, respectively.

In Overwatch 2, the Anniversary brings back seasonal limited-time modes from that year.

Challenges

In-game rewards can be unlocked during the event through limited-time challenges, with rewards varying from Credits, Cosmetics, Battle Pass XP, Loot Boxes and Mythic Prisms.

• Individual pieces of content reveals were done by different Overwatch accounts: the Dance emote reveals were done by the Spanish team, the Voice line reveals done by the English team, and the Map reveals were done by the European team, Skin reveals done by the South Korean team.
• The Eichenwalde arena map is inspired by Black Forest from The Last Bastion animated short.
