Overwatch Wiki:Admin noticeboard

The Admin noticeboard is one way through which users can notify administrators of issues needing administrative attention. While users are welcome to directly contact specific administrators (especially if they are seen to be active), posting here can be an easier and quicker way of ensuring that at least one admin will notice an issue and respond to it promptly. Remember to sign (using four tildes: ~~~~) when posting an issue.

Before posting an issue here, please consider the following:

• This page is for reporting wiki issues. Please post discussions on the talk page.
• Post only issues that require administrative action, i.e. blocking vandals, protecting pages, restoring deleted pages etc.
• Do not post deletion requests here. Deletion requests should be made by adding {{delete}} to the top of the target page, which will then automatically mark the page as a candidate for deletion.
• Do not post issues regarding content disputes. Try making a request for comment instead.
• Mediation requests between users should only be made once a resolution could not be reached between users.
• For issues regarding the use of this wiki, please see our help center.

In case of vandalism, posting about it here is low priority. Revert it first, anyone can do so. If the vandal created a new page, tag it for deletion. Assume good faith and consider leaving a message on that user's talk page to explain the reason. Post here only if the user has made several disruptive edits and/or persists despite a warning. Always avoid a revert war with the vandal; it is far better to wait until an admin has a chance to intervene. If a user must be reported here, please use {{user}}, preferably as the topic subject/headline.

Resolved Issues

Year of the Rooster Edit Rejected

I wanted to add information to the Seasonal Events page for the upcoming Year of the Rooster event, but my edit was automatically rejected because of "Global AF - Disallow certain words". I'm not sure which was the offending word. I tried to include the edit here to show as an example, but it refused to let me post it here as well. Let me know what I need to do to get this edit submitted.

BTW, sorry about all the edits to this page, I'm new to editing and still learning.

Synaesthesia Auditiva Edit Rejected

Hi. Like a previous person today, an edit of mine on the Synaesthesia Auditiva page was blocked. The reason for the block was listed as "Global AF - disallow certain words." I'm unsure as to what I did triggered the filter. If anyone can help me resolve the issue I would greatly appreciate it. Thank-you for your time. Minister Boots (talk) 00:49, 20 January 2017 (UTC)

Editing D.Va's matchups

I just spent a good while writing up a lot of information on D.Va's page for her matchups. However, I also got the "Global AF" error message that seems to be popular from what I can see on this page. I scanned through the whole edit and didn't see any foul language, so I'm not sure what the tipoff was. Any help? Hikarigami (talk) 07:49, 23 January 2017 (UTC)

I'm really sorry about the hassle! I believe the current situation is that the oversensitive word filter is a problem outside of our control. The proposed work-around is making five edits (EDIT: or possibly six?) that don't get caught, after which point the filter will supposedly relax. This report put you at five, so theoretically you should be good to go now. :) I have a copy of the changes you tried to make, so I can edit the page for you with those changes if you'd like. Alternatively, if you still have them saved and want to do it yourself, it could be helpful to test whether the five edit rule works. --Fuzzlepuzzle (talk) 15:04, 23 January 2017 (UTC)

"Global AF - New User"

I tried to make an edit to Chris Metzen's page regarding a link leading to the wrong (or at least unintended) page, however my edit was rejected because new users can't add links apparently? The notice said to contact an admin and it looks like this is where I can do so. I definitely didn't mean harm with my edit, so I hope this can be resolved.

I'm not an admin, but I might be able to help. I had a similar problem a while back. Try making some edits to your user profile page first. Once you have 5 successful edits on your account, you shouldn't have any trouble. Vicendithas (talk) 13:44, 14 February 2017 (UTC)

I was browsing the wiki when I noticed the Competitive_Play page to just be a copy paste of the declaration of independence. Can't make edits to Joel Morricone

I tried to make a new Joel Morricone page with some added trivia (the current page misspells the character's name as Marricone), but was blocked for AF - Large Spam Pages. Edited my user page and tried again, but I'm now blocked for trying to add a phone number(?).

Unintentionally messed up Doomfist's image link

I was trying to upload (and succeeded) uploading a new image for Doomfist's portrait instead of the Poster image, but when moving the Poster image, I accidentally left the "leave a redict behind" option checked in, and this is ended up a strange page displaying the Poster image and having a redirect link despite displaying the "new" Doomfist image on the page. Doomfist's Page needs to be protected or blocked from vandals

Hey everyone. Upon visiting the wiki, I found that DF's quotes/stats section had been vandalized with what appears to be a recycled, racist copypasta.

I'd restore but I'm uncertain if that will prevent future incidents from occurring.

I think that page became a high-traffic page just like when Orisa had been released, and I'm sure that it would use some protection against anonymous users, so only registered users could edit it. TheGamer765 (talk) 21:05, 6 July 2017 (UTC)
