Hanzo fires an arrow from his Storm Bow that, upon hitting a solid surface, will divide into 6 fragmented arrows. Each fragment will ricochet off walls 3 times before vanishing. After pressing the ability button, the "scatter" arrow will replace Hanzo's current arrow. Pressing the same button, or the secondary fire button will reequip the normal arrow.
The initial arrow functions like normal arrow; it deals the same damage, has the same projectile characteristic and can headshot. The fragments inflict 75 damage each and cannot headshot; they will deal total 450 damage if all of them hit.
Initially intended as an ability where the fragments can strike multiple targets at once, it is rarely played this way and is nearly always used to strike one target multiple times, resulting in the highest non-ultimate burst damage in the game.
- An ability named Piercing Arrow was considered and tested as a replacement for Scatter Arrow during the testing for Hanzo's rework. It would have been a fast arrow that went through barriers and enemies. It was thought to be too unfun to play against and so did not make the cut.
