Training

Training

Training is one of the available playlists in Overwatch 2. Training consists of three game modes: Tutorial, Practice Range and Practice vs. AI, which are focused on providing new players an environment to learn the basics, practice and test settings.

Tutorial[ | ]

Tutorial

The Tutorial is the opening play mode of Overwatch 2. It is what players first start with when playing Overwatch 2 for the first time.

Here, Athena and Tracer guides the player through hero movement, attacks, and abilities, using the hero Soldier: 76. Upon completion of the tutorial proper, players gain access to a more open-ended tutorial map in the form of the Practice Range.

Practice Range[ | ]

The Practice Range is a map available in Overwatch 2.

There are no objectives, which makes it a good place to try new heroes, practice skills, and adjust settings. There are four friendly and eleven hostile training bots on the map that perform various actions, such as staying still, shooting, and moving. Range markers (in meters) are displayed on the ground. Additionally, a hero selector for enemy heroes that you can summon in is available. These enemies will always be passive.

The training facility made an appearance in Uprising, which took place at the Swiss HQ, leading some to believe it is located in Switzerland.

Practice vs. AI[ | ]

Practice vs. AI is one of the game modes in Overwatch 2. In it, two teams of five—one human, one AI-controlled—contend with each other.

It functions almost exactly like Quick Play, only with bots as opponents instead of human players. This is a good place to familiarize oneself with the regular gameplay, different game modes, and new heroes in a low-stress environment. There are three difficulty levels available for the player to choose from.

Trivia[ | ]

  • The loading screen in the Practice Range has three targets instead of the Training bots who actually appear there.
  • Since Overwatch 2's release, the vast majority of heroes have been made available as bots in Practice vs. AI.
  • Practice vs. AI's difficulties have been changed. Medium difficulty remains (having been renamed to "Casual"), and a higher one named "Lethal" has been added.
  • All locked heroes are available in the Practice Range.
  • Heroes that have joined the roster since Overwatch 2's release have challenges that have to be done inside the Practice Range.
