Genji[]

Powers[]

  • Technorganic Physiology: As Genji's injuries left him clinging to life, Overwatch offered to rebuild his body in exchange for his help. He was put through an extensive process of cyberization, which enhanced his natural speed and agility and augmented his superlative ninja skills. Transformed into a living weapon, Genji single-mindedly set about the task of dismantling his family's criminal empire.
    • Enhanced Speed: Genji can deliver a swift strike at 111.85 miles per hour. The only one he had trouble keeping up with is Tracer.[1]
    • Enhanced Agility: Genji's cyber-agility allows him to climb on walls and double jump.

Abilities[]

Genji excelled at his ninja training.

  • Sword Mastery: Genji is a master swordsman, having been trained by Asa Yamagami.[2]
  • Bilingualism: Genji fluently speaks his native Japanese and English.

Equipment[]

  • Shuriken: Genji flings precise and deadly shuriken at his targets. He looses three deadly throwing stars in quick succession, throwing an accurate burst of three projectiles. Alternatively, he can throw three shuriken in a wider spread, throwing a fan of three projectiles in an arc. He can throw them at 134.22 miles per hour.
  • Wakizashi: With his swift strike, Genji darts forward, slashing with his wakizashi and passing through foes in his path, cutting down enemies. If Genji eliminates a target, he can instantly use this ability again. He can rapidly dash forward and inflict damage on enemies and eliminations reset the cooldown. With lightning-quick swipes of his wakizashi, Genji deflects an oncoming projectile and sends it rebounding towards his opponent. He deflects incoming projectiles towards the direction he is aiming and blocks melee attacks.
"Ryūjin no ken wo kurae! (竜神の剣を喰らえ!)"
―Genji

  • Katana: Genji unsheathes a deadly melee weapon and brandishes his technologically-advanced katana for a brief period of time. Until he sheathes his katana, Genji can deliver killing strikes to any targets within his reach. He can also deliver a swift strike and deflect with his katana. Genji's sword is a katana named Ryū ichimonji (竜一文字); he maintains it personally and has never allowed anyone else to examine or repair it. It is paired with a traditional wakizashi sheathed horizontally on his lower back.[3]

Soldier: 76[]

"Call me a vigilante if you want. Truth is... I'm just a soldier."
―Soldier: 76 in Origin Story
"War isn't a game."
―Soldier: 76 to D.Va
"Old soldiers never die... and they don't fade away."
―Soldier: 76

Powers[]

"Old soldiers are hard to kill."
―Soldier: 76 to Ana
  • Artificially Enhanced Physiology: At eighteen, Morrison joined the military. He had planned to serve a brief stint in the armed forces and then return home to the family farm, but his work ethic and courage caught the eye of the military brass. Before long, he earned a coveted position in the government's controversial and still-classified (but widely acknowledged) "soldier enhancement program." Military scientists shaped Morrison and other inductees into the perfect soldiers, blessed with superhuman speed, strength, and agility. Morrison and his fellow augmented soldiers would soon put their abilities to use with the advent of the Omnic Crisis. Surveillance footage of Soldier: 76 shows him performing superhuman feats of strength and endurance.[4] One of the guards at Watchpoint: Grand Mesa claimed that Soldier: 76 possessed speed and strength beyond anything "a normal person" should be capable of.[5] He possesses physical capabilities exceeding those of a conventional soldier's, as well as other augmentations that make him a peerless combatant.
    • Enhanced Strength: Soldier: 76's physical strength was increased. In Dorado, he dragged a fully grown man with one hand, threw another man into an electrical box with enough force to break it, knocked another man into a wall with a punch, made another one backflip by slamming his elbow into him, threw another across an alley, knocked one down with a punch, and slammed one into a wall with enough force to crack it.[6]
    • Enhanced Durability: Soldier: 76 is highly resilient to physical injury. He survived the explosive destruction of Overwatch Headquarters. He also survived a close-range grenade explosion while protecting Alejandra[6] and getting shot by one of Reaper's Hellfire Shotguns, although he was healed by Ana.[7] His genetic enhancements help him acclimatize to different conditions.[8]
    • Enhanced Speed: Soldier: 76 can run faster while moving forward. Whether he needs to evade a firefight or get back into one, Soldier: 76 can rush ahead in a burst of speed. His sprint ends if he takes an action other than charging forward. He avoided gunfire from a rifles and minigun, and covered Alejandra before a grenade went off.[6]
    • Enhanced Agility: Soldier: 76 quickly climbed over a wall.[7]
    • Enhanced Stamina: Soldier: 76 has a high level of endurance.
    • Enhanced Reflexes: Soldier: 76 has great reflexes. He easily avoided a swing from a baseball bat and caught another falling bat after a gangster dropped it, and blocked a punch from behind.[6]
    • Enhanced Senses: Soldier: 76 has heightened senses.
    • Regenerative Healing Factor: Soldier: 76's wounds can heal themselves.[8]
    • Longevity: Ana said Morrison looks pretty good for a man of his years.[9]

Abilities[]

  • Master Tactician: Morrison was the Strike Commander of Overwatch and led the organization for two decades.[10] During his service, he received many commendations for his leadership. His books include multi-volume sets of historical texts, such an ancient leather-bound edition of Thucydides' History of the Peloponnesian War, and he also has a chess board with a copy of Bobby Fischer's My 60 Memorable Games.[11] He and Ana dismantled Hakim's network of criminals.[8]
  • Expert Marksman: Morrison is proficient with firearms. His heavy pulse rifle's recoil compensation allows for accurate sustained fire and his tactical visor allows for precise aiming.
  • Expert Martial Artist: Morrison is an expert hand-to-hand combatant. When he attacked a former Overwatch facility, he injured a number of private security guards; Helix Security International personnel who were stationed at the former Overwatch base engaged in a firefight with him, but they failed to apprehend him. One of the guards said he was a professional, confident, surgical, and had all the hallmarks of someone with advanced military training."[5] He easily defeated Los Muertos,[6] demonstrating techniques from Muay Thai, Boxing, Jujutsu, and Aikido.[12] He also quickly beat a man who held him at gunpoint, took down a group of mercenaries at Abdul Hakim's compound, and fought against Reaper.[7] The bodies of the security guards were splayed about like children's toys.[8]
  • Expert Thief: Soldier: 76 targeted multiple former Overwatch bases and stole experimental weaponry and other military equipment from the facilities. When he attacked a former Overwatch facility, he stole a prototype for a heavy pulse rifle.[5]
  • Stealth: Security personnel who were present at the former Overwatch base break-ins described Soldier: 76 as someone well versed in covert ops tactics.[4] Even in his red and blue jacket, Soldier: 76 is hard to detect, which surprised Mercy because he never relied on subterfuge before, and if it were not for the scanning equipment of the Valkyrie, he would surely would have been invisible to her.[11]
  • Bilingualism: Soldier: 76 speaks English and Latin.[9]
"I don't quit 'till the fight's done."
―Soldier: 76
  • Indomitable Will:

Equipment[]

  • Heavy Pulse Rifle: Morrison stole a prototype for a heavy pulse rifle, a highly advanced experimental weapon originally developed by Overwatch, from Watchpoint: Grand Mesa.[5] Soldier: 76's rifle remains particularly steady while unloading fully-automatic pulse fire. The automatic assault weapon's recoil compensation allows for accurate sustained fire. It has a firing rate of 540 rounds per minute. He used it against Los Muertos.[6] He can use his rifle as a blunt weapon.[7][13]
    • Helix Rockets: Soldier: 76's rifle can launch a volley of explosive rockets. Tiny rockets spiral out of Soldier: 76's Pulse Rifle in a single burst and the rockets' explosion damages enemies in a small radius. Its angled fins allow projectiles to travel in helical trajectory. He used them against Los Muertos.[6]
  • Biotic Field: Soldier: 76 carries a trio of biotic grenades[11] that can deploy a field that heals him and his allies. He plants a biotic emitter on the ground and its energy projection restores health to him and any of his squadmates within the field. It creates a biotic healing area, accelerating combat recovery.
"I've got you in my sights."
―Soldier: 76
  • Tactical Visor: Soldier: 76's tactical visor automatically aims his weapon at targets in view. His pinpoint targeting visor "locks" his aim on the threat closest to his crosshairs. If an enemy leaves his line of sight, Soldier: 76 can quickly switch to another target. The dynamic heads-up display allows for precise aiming. He used it against Los Muertos[6] and to scan for Reaper.[7][8]
