Trivia[ | ]
- The Maximus/Zephyrus 'storyline' appears in posters throughout Colosseo in Overwatch 2. A poster marked "Rivincita! Max v Zeph II" appears (note that "rivincita" translates as "revenge"). The scoreboard on their apparent rematch can be seen in a bar, where, by the fourth round, Zephyrus has a solid lead over Maximus. Notably, a gladiatorial match appears to be going on in the Colosseum during the Colosseo map. This may be their fifth and final round.
- Both gladiators appear to be remote controlled by human pilots. It is unclear whether the names pertain to the robots, the pilots, or both.
- Zephyrus appears to take inspiration from a variety of sources. Zephyrus is the name of a Greek wind deity, while his role as a gladiator harkens back to the Roman Empire. While the design has some gladiatorial inspiration, the 'wings' on his back are reminiscent of Polish hussars.
