Zhang was a member of the Horizon Lunar Colony base staff.

While the base's staff discussed the issue of the gorilla test subjects (namely, increased aggression in some of the subjects), Zhang pointed out that it had been a week since they had seen Specimen Hammond He noted that it might not be a big deal for other base members, but he wanted all of the test subjects accounted for. Zhang bemoaned the base's use of smaller test subjects.

Not long afterwards, the gorillas at the base launched an uprising, killing all of the base's staff.
